Both the princes are using their signature weapons, Bāhubali is using his sword while Bhallaldev is shown using his extendable mace. After a small skirmish, they receive the signal of Katappa to charge forward onto Kalakeya leader.

Cavalries of both the princes march forward with the princes leading them. Bhallaldev is using a chariot with rotating scythes in front of it, this clears anyone coming in his way. Bāhubali is on a normal horse, using spears as his horseback weapon.

On seeing that both the princes are coming towards him with their cavalries and that his forces are unable to halt their progress, the Kalakeya leader uses a dirty tactic, he makes a line of human-shield for his army using the Mahismati citizens they have captured. Bhallaldev pushes through with his chariot despite this and gets ahead but kills many innocent Mahismati citizens in the process. Bāhubali instead uses a novel approach and his army throws bolas at the civilians, thus making them fall to their knees, this reveals the Kalakeya soldiers standing behind them and Bāhubali and his forces shoot them down using arrows and spears. They then proceed forward by jumping over the civilians and later get the civilians out of the way by sending soldiers to help them.
