After going for a bit, they stop and are encompassed by Mahismati soldiers led by Bhadra. Katappa hadn't reached scene of rime yet. After initial struggle from Shiva, they manage to hold him down while Bhadra catches Devsena and attempts to recapture her by rechaining in the same chains as were used to keep her in the courtyard. This increases Shiva's anger and he manages to break-free from his chains and attacks guards and everyone near him, Katappa arrives amidst all this and gives hope to Bhadra who is sure that he is going to die today. While fighting with Shiva, Shiva takes the sword of late Bāhubali, which Katappa pulls out and beheads Bhadra. On seeing this, Katappa starts charging on Shiva. But when Katappa observes Shiva's face, is shocked and touches his feet in respect. Everyone else around has also bowed down. Confused by all this, Shiva asks Katappa as to how all this started?
Katappa reveals few details important to plot,
- Shiva's original name is Mahendra Bāhubali.
- Amarendra Bāhubali was Mahendra's father
- Amarendra Bāhubali's dad inherited the iron throne since his brother had very negative qualities, but he thinks that it was due to him being physically handicapped.
- Shivagami takes care of the iron throne as king's representative
- Amarendra's mother dies while giving birth to him
- Sivagami, the lady who is shown to us initially, cares for Bāhubali the same way she does for Bhallaldev, her son.
- Both are of same age and Sivagami raises them both together.
