During division of resources, Bhallaldev asks for the chariot with scythes in front of it and also for weapons capable of firing huge volleys of arrows, while Bāhubali receives catapults, which are only useful when laying siege to a city and not of much use in open-field battle. It is shown that later in night Bāhubali has asked his soldiers to gather large pieces of cloth by cutting from tents.

On the day of battle, Sivagami along with her two sons goes to talk with Kalakeya leader to give him a chance to surrender and leave peacefully. He rejects the offer and insults Sivagami. He says that he will kill both the princes. He will have a son of his with Sivagami and will then make that one the king of Mahismati. Enraged by his comments, Sivagami orders both the princes to not give him a clean death and make him suffer as much as possible before killing him.

The scene then shifts to the day of battle, where soldiers of Mahismati are praying to their deity before battle and both the princes have to present a gift of life to the deity to appease her so that she would help them win the fight. Bhallaldev takes the sacrificial blade and chops off the head of the buffalo presented to him and offers it as sacrifice. While the turn of Bāhubali comes, he spares the life of buffalo and when the royal priest and Katappa state that the sacrifice is necessary, then Bāhubali asks as to what is the need for killing an innocent. And he offers his own blood to the deity by cutting a gash in his palm. This boosts the morale of every soldier and they start chanting Bāhubali's name.
