Scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.

Essay

An event or an act which is considered morally and legally wrong which in turn causes a public outrage is called a scandal. Public exposure of the act is necessary for it to be termed as a scandal.

Scandals are very important since they rise to a place where they get attention from media which causes it's details to spread like wildfire. The best a reformer or speaker can do is hold lectures and public addresses at many places. It is time consuming and also highly possible that the listeners stop actively thinking about what the speaker said from very next day. It in no way even compares to the reach that the media and press has in today's world. This way it draws public's attention to previously unknown problems.

When all this has been raised to such a center-stage in minds of public, any punishment given to the committer of that scandal leaves its effects on others and deters them from pursuing any similar routes if they planned to do so. Contrary to this daily many people are found guilty and punished by courts of law across the world but no-one knows about them since the case doesn't have as much attention of general mass.

Although scandals are not all-good, they cause the country's image to be highly impacted negatively on the global scale. And this is one of the cases where no publicity is actually way better than negative publicity since frequent scandals can mean that other nations might not remain too supportive of that country in the future and that country might even stop receiving financial and other aids from other countries.
